Spring Wedding Planning Tips
As a private estate wedding venue, located in Mid Coast Maine, we know how important it is for our couples to have the perfect wedding day, regardless of the season. A special kind of beauty is present at Springtime weddings, with our gardens in bloom, full of Rugosa Roses & Lilacs, & the warmer weather. Here are some tips & tricks for planning your dream Springtime wedding at our venue:
1. Choose the Perfect Color Palette
Spring is all about soft pastel colors & vibrant hues. Consider incorporating shades of blush, lavender, mint, and baby blue into your wedding decor for a fresh & romantic feel.
2. Take Advantage of Spring Weather
Take advantage of the beautiful spring weather by hosting your ceremony outdoors. Our venue has stunning outdoor event spaces, bordered by gardens, that are perfect for a spring wedding celebration.
3. Focus on the Spring Details
Spring is a time of rebirth & growth, so incorporate the season into your wedding decor. Use fresh, seasonal flowers, soft, pastel colors, & natural elements like wood or greenery. Consider incorporating floral elements like blooming centerpieces and cascading floral backdrops.
4. Preferred Vendors
Work with our experienced preferred vendor team, who are dedicated to making your day unforgettable, in any season. From the first consultation to the last dance, your team is here to make sure everything runs smoothly.
5. Consider Springtime-inspired Food & Cocktails
Incorporate fresh, seasonal ingredients & herbs into your menu & cocktails, such as asparagus, sweet peas, strawberries, & rhubarb. Offer refreshing cocktails with fresh fruit, herbs, edible flowers or mint. Spring is the perfect time for a tea-time inspired brunch after your wedding. With the sun shining & birds chirping, there’s nothing quite like enjoying a mimosa & a delicious brunch spread with your loved ones. Bell the Cat, one of our Preferred Caterers, can prepare an exquisite brunch for you & your guests to enjoy.
6. Think About the Weather
Think about the weather: Even though spring is a beautiful time of year, it can also bring rain & chilly temperatures. Make sure to have a backup plan in case of inclement weather. Offer wraps & lap blankets to guests for the ceremony & cocktail hour. Help ward off the chill & rain drops with tents, umbrellas & heaters, at the ready.
7. Dress For the Season
Spring weather can be unpredictable & ranges widely over the course of the day, so consider choosing attire that can accommodate this. For example, choose a dress with a detachable train or incorporate a bolero to go over your dress, to cover your shoulders. Wear a suit with a vest that can be removed if it gets too warm.
8. Choose Your Venue Wisely
Spring weather can be unpredictable, so it’s important to choose a venue that can accommodate both indoor and outdoor options. Consider a venue with a covered outdoor space or a beautiful indoor area with large windows to enjoy the beauty of the season. Plan to use our beautiful Conservatory at the Retreat House in the case of rain. You can still enjoy beautiful, broad, oceanviews, but your guests will be safe, dry & warm inside.
