Planning a destination wedding in Maine can be an exciting & memorable experience. However, it requires careful planning & preparation. Let’s explore the four key steps of planning your destination wedding in Maine.
Before you begin your search for your venue & vendors, take the time to consider your values & vision around this celebration. Ask yourself & your fiance what your top priorities are for this experience & how you want the experience to feel for you & your guests. Determine what the key elements are This will help establish some parameters & narrow your search.
Before reserving your venue & contracting vendors, you’ll need to establish a budget & identify the source(s) of this budget. You’ll need to know what each of your preferred vendors charge, so it’s a good idea to start early & work with a planner who is familiar with vendor costs & can guide you through this process.
It’s essential to decide on your wedding date & location as soon as possible. We suggest that you reserve your venue 18-12 months in advance. This is particularly true if you’re planning a wedding during prime season, or at a popular venue with limited availability. French’s Point’s prime dates run from May through December. We only host one celebration a weekend at the estate. For this reason, our dates fill quickly, in comparison to more public venues, like hotels & resorts, that host 2-3 weddings on the same date. You’ll want to secure your preferred date early enough to ensure that all of the necessary vendors are available for this date. It’s essential to book as early as possible to avoid disappointment & limitations, particularly if you have your heart set on a particular venue or vendor.
Another crucial factor to consider is travel & accommodations for your guests. It’s a good idea to book your wedding & send out save-the-dates at least 6-8 months in advance, so that your guests have plenty of time to make travel arrangements & book accommodations. This is particularly important if you’re planning a celebration that includes guests that will travel internationally, to attend your wedding. Additionally, we find that when guests learn that they have been invited to attend a wedding on the coast of Maine, they will plan a vacation around the wedding weekend, so they can spend some time exploring this region. There is so much to experience here!
By following these four steps, you will be on your way to planning a fun & enjoyable destination wedding in Maine.
