Today we are featuring a wedding from June of 2009.
“Mike and Reagan have been a blast to work with over this past year. From our initial meeting when they were on their Photographer quest, through the E-shoot in York Harbor last fall, emails throughout the winter and then finally their incredible wedding at The Retreat at French’s Point in Stockton Springs, Maine, it’s been a great experience.
Starting out the day with the” getting ready” shots are always a fun way of getting caught up in the buzz and excitement of what is about to unfold. Mike and Reagan had rented out the entire Retreat for the ceremony and reception. This allowed everyone to get ready at a comfortable pace without worrying about getting to a church on time, looking for parking, mixed-up directions, etc. The ceremony was held at the water’s edge under a pristine gazebo. Speaking of pristine… I don’t think I’ve ever been to a place more immaculate than this venue. The setting is obviously gorgeous but as I joked with Mike, “I can’t find one cobweb, one place in need of a coat of paint, no fingerprints on the bar or any polished woodwork, no dust in the corners…” Believe me, after a while it became a game and I was looking for any flaw I could find. I’m a bit of a nut that way but I like attention to detail and obviously Jessika Brooks, the proprietor does too.
After the ceremony and family photos, we went inside where Mike completely stole the show singing a heartfelt ballad to Reagan. Mike and I have chatted a little about mutual music interests over this past year but he never once mentioned to me that he could sing and play the piano. So it was a complete surprise when he performed the Ben Folds tune “The Luckiest” to all of us. Well, I think it was really for Reagan but there just happened to be a hundred or so people in the room also listening.” Maine Photographer Patrick Mcnamara.
