Last week, we introduced you to Sarah Ripley, French’s Point’s operations and administration manager. Today, meet Eric Joy, our service and sales manager and customer relations extraordinaire. After joining the team in 2007 as a cocktail waiter, Eric’s become an integral part of our staff.

His role at French’s Point
My role and primary responsibilities are comparative analysis, market research, inquiry response and management, bar and beverage management, and event co-management/execution.

I may take couples’ original inquiry when they initially request information about French’s Point. I also conduct and assist with tours. I do any research of wine, spirits or beer that they may be thinking of including in their event. Finally, I am involved in the execution of their event.

Service with a smile
It starts with treating people the way you want to be treated, then moving on to anticipating a client’s wants/needs. Good service is interpreted differently by all, so we provide exactly what the client desires in this regard.

Understanding and empathizing with the way a person is thinking and feeling is the key to good customer service. But above everything I’ve mentioned, as a manager or staff member, you have to have fun. When a client sees that you truly enjoy your job, they feel much more comfortable, which turns into them having a better time. I love what I do and I try to show that every day at work.

The French’s Point Approach
The couple’s happiness is our priority and we will do everything in our power to ensure that they and their guests have the best time of their lives.

I love what I do. Every day is new and exciting, always a fresh experience. But above all, the reason I love what I do is the people I work with. Our staff is among the most friendly and professional in the business, period. But as with any successful business, it all starts at the top. Our Operations Manager Sarah Ripley is the detail guru. She is one of the most driven people I’ve ever worked with and does it all with a smile; she is amazing. We have excellent professional chemistry together that allows us to manage efficiently and effectively at each event.

Owner/CEO Jessika Brooks is an incredibly kind and honest person. She is a fantastic mother and wife who somehow also finds the time to be the best person to work for that I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. She upholds a professional and courteous demeanor that is conveyed clearly to each and every client and is emulated by the entire staff.

I feel that we all truly enjoy what we do and I believe this is why French’s Point is known for giving unsurpassed service.

Lessons he’s learned
I’ve learned many (laughs), as I think anyone in this industry does. I believe that understanding and executing all the little details that the couple wants is crucial to making a one-of-a-kind event a success. It’s usually the little details that people remember and talk about years after. Really, I think the biggest lesson is in understanding the couple’s wants/needs and making sure that those are all met and exceeded.

Exploring the midcoast
For fun casual fare, try the Black Sheep Tavern in Bucksport, but my personal favorite is The Good Kettle in Stockton Springs. For activities, the trail system in Sandy Point State Park that runs immediately behind our property. You don’t have to go far from the point for an adventure!
