Maine Wedding Summer Itinerary

Summer Bride
Published August 9th, 2011

The balmy months between June and September showcase some of the best Maine has to offer: refreshing ocean breezes, long sunny days stretching into mild nights, meals of fresh seafood on outdoor patios, we could go on and on.
With so much to see and do, itineraries for summer weddings here at French’s Point are as varied as the brides and grooms themselves. But here’s one suggestion for planning a three-day event — follow the schedule in full, in part or just let it inspire your vision for a warm-weather wedding.

DAY ONE

8 a.m.-2 p.m.  Guests arrive & check-in at area accommodations. The bridal party embarks on a custom charter ride aboard the Miss Nina Schooner around the waters of Penobscot Bay.
4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. Ceremony rehearsal for the bridal party.
6 p.m.-8 p.m. The rehearsal dinner, a traditional New England lobster bake on our waterfront terraces.

DAY TWO

8 a.m.-2 p.m. An excursion to Bar Harbor for private carriage rides along the historic carriage trails of Acadia National Park, the lasting legacy of John D. Rockefeller. Break for a visit to the Jordan Pond House for tea and popovers or a lunch of seafood chowder on the lawn.

2:30 p.m. The bridal party returns to French’s Point for hair and makeup preparation.
4 p.m. Guests arrive by luxury coach.
4:30 p.m. Ceremony commences at the waterfront gazebo.
5 p.m. Guests enjoy a cocktail hour and the music of a string quartet on the front terrace.
6 p.m. Reception on the lawn under an outdoor tent. Dinner kicks off with chilled blueberry soup and a salad of sliced strawberries with cashew-crusted chevre medallions, followed by an entrée course of herb-encrusted halibut served with a sweet pea and mint risotto.
7:30 p.m. Cake cutting, followed by the first dance and open dancing.
10 p.m. A sparkler send-off for the bride and groom. Guests depart by luxury coach.

DAY THREE

10 a.m.-noon A farewell brunch at Beach Rose Farm.
