This week, we kick off our 2018 season after a winter of renovations at the Retreat House. I am beyond excited to share with our couple, their family and friends the fruits of our labor. We are pushing hard to make everything perfect for their arrival, in spite of the LONG winter and the snow that still lingers on the west side of the estate. Perhaps today it will settle into the earth and make way for the forget-me-nots!
An army of family and friends made these dreams come true. We are so proud of the artists and craftsmen that joined our family team. We partnered with other family businesses that are helping us provide comfort to our guests and care to our homes, so you can feel at home here. I will share some details about them in upcoming posts. I can’t wait to tell you all about them!
As we do almost every winter, the season was spent completing a number of major maintenance and repair projects to keep our beautiful buildings and grounds in top working order. We also completed a major renovation to the bedroom suites on the second and third floors of the Retreat House. I shared with you the details of the newly refurbished Top Level Apartment in the Retreat House, Suite 1, Suite 2, Suite 3, and Suite 4, all located on the second floor, and also the Tilton Dining Room, Crystal Lynn Conservatory, Brooks Lounge, the Robert-Willard Harris Brooks & Andrew Bradford Foyer Bar on the main floor and the Welcome Centers at both the Retreat House and Farm House in recent posts.
We completed our work in the Retreat House Recreation Room located on the lower level of the Retreat House and are excited to share it with our guests. This new area is equipped with new comfy couch, chairs, a TV, poker table, pool table, coat hooks and a portable ping pong table for use in the foyer. This is an ideal location for the groom and his friends to relax together prior to the ceremony and catch a bit of the game on the TV. The doorway to the outside near the wedding tree allows an inside-outside use of this space. Some recent guests have referred to it as a “man-cave”, but it can be enjoyed by everyone. It will also be a great spot for kiddos to enjoy during the ceremony it is hard to sit still for that long when you’re little!
