The Sound System at French’s Point

Sound System at French's Point - Estate Destination Wedding Venue - Lindsey Ocker Photography

The Sound System at French’s Point is offered to our guests during their planned events. The Sound System is a property operated piece of equipment.  Guests have access to the sound system from 9am-10pm with the site managers permission. Sound System will be locked at 10:00PM or at the end of your event before the site manager’s departure.

Microphone

Our Sound System broadcasts sound on the Main Level of the Retreat House and outside on the Cocktail Terrace. If you have a speech planned during your event, you are welcome to speak with a French’s Point site manager about using a microphone. Please plan to use the microphone only inside the home, as the microphone will lose it’s line-of-sight connection once it leaves the Main Level of the Retreat House.

Piano

If you plan to have a Pianist, please let us know ahead of time so we can set up the microphone to the piano to broadcast outside on the Cocktail Terrace.

Music

In order to play your music selections, you will need a Phone or iPad with an Aux Port or Aux Port Converter. You are also welcome to play CDs.

For any other Sound System questions, please email Nicole at [email protected].

What Style of Venue is French’s Point?

Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point Wedding Venue - Maine Wedding - Family Home

Maine offers two different kinds of wedding venues to suit couples’ needs:

All-inclusive Locations:

  • Resorts, inns, and restaurants

Blank Canvas Properties

  • Summer camps, private homes, farms, fields, and orchards

French’s Point: A Black Canvas Venue

French’s Point is a simply elegant seaside “blank canvas venue“. This means that we provide the outstanding venue with 8 possible ceremony settings and 14 different gathering spaces. You choose how you wish to use these amenities during your time here. French’s Point is a very large vacation rental property with 14 acres and two beautiful homes which are offered to one couple and their guests exclusively for the entire weekend. Our weekend celebrations feel like a vacation, a reunion and a wedding all combined. Our goal for our couples is for them to have a wedding that is unique to them that suits their vision of their celebration & one that is within their budget. To foster this goal, you hire your choice of vendors: planner, caterer, bar service provider, florist, photographer, etc. This allows you to engage the vendor team that best suits your goals and is within your budget. We have an excellent preferred vendor list of vendors to help you on the search for your team, but you can use whichever vendors best align with your preferences, as long as they are insured (liability insurance) and licensed where applicable (caterer, bar service provider, food truck, baker, hair and make-up design). There are no cookie cutter events here and no food and beverage minimums to meet!

Real Review: The Venue Is Out Of A Dream

French's Point - Coastal Maine Destination Wedding Venue - Review - patrick_mcnamara_photo

Julianna & Cody

October 6th, 2018

There will never be enough words to describe how happy and satisfied we were with French’s Point (and Jessika & Nicole)! We found French’s Point in a magazine and just knew we had to set up a tour. From the second we walked into the venue we fell in love with it and couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. Jessika and Nicole were incredible to work with, they always made time to answer our questions, give us suggestions, and help turn our dream wedding into a reality. Nicole was our wedding coordinator and we cherished and valued the relationship – Nicole was attentive, polite, professional, accommodating, timely, and understanding.

We had both our rehearsal dinner and wedding at French’s Point. The venue is out of a dream – an exquisite estate right on the water. Our guests stayed at Beach Rose Farm House for the weekend, which was equally as beautiful. Our extended family members stayed at other houses located on or near the property, which was very convenient as everything was in walking distance once our guests arrived.

Our wedding day is one we want to relive over and over again, in large part because of the location. We are so happy we chose French’s Point – beautiful, timeless and classy. It is unlike any other wedding venue. Every guest was blown away by the sheer and unique beauty and we continue to receive compliments daily!

French's Point: Domestic Air Conditioning in the Retreat House and Farm House - Destination Wedding Venue on the Coast of Maine - Emily Delameter Photography

Guests often ask if we have or need air conditioning at French’s Point. The reality is that the architect Wilfred E. Mansur, who designed the retreat house, did so to take advantage of the near perpetual breezes here. The transom windows over the bedroom doors on the second floor are testament of that. In fact, in some of the rooms at the Retreat House, door hooks are offered near the baseboard to keep open doors from slamming closed in the breeze. The Farm House and the Retreat House are both cited at the highest elevations on the point and if you open a door or window for cross ventilation, the rooms remain quite comfortable most of the time. The exception is the few days in July or August when the air is still and the humidity coupled with higher temperatures does not afford a breeze.

Regardless of the reality, we wanted to be able to assure our guests that their accommodations are comfortable year round. This spring, we partnered with Mike from Domestic Air Conditioning and Refrigeration to bring air conditioning to our guest rooms in both homes. He finished the installation of the system we roughed in in 2005. The Retreat House bed rooms have central air conditioning with the exception of one room in suite 1, which has a window unit. The Farm House bedrooms all have window units with the exception of suite 12 on the lower level that does not need air conditioning, because it always stays comfortable. We are glad to have this amenity to offer to our guests. We know that now they will slumber comfortably, even on the warmest, stillest of summer nights.

The Retreat House Suite 4: The Brewer Family Suite

French's Point - Suite 4 - Retreat House - Family Vacation Home Rental - Destination Wedding Venue in Maine - Greta Tucker Photography

The second level of the Retreat House now offers four newly renovated suites with en suite bathrooms and six total bedrooms on this floor. Suite 4- The Brewer Family Suite, offers a two-bedroom configuration with a queen in each room with an adjoining bath. Our family LOVES this space and we hope other families do too. When I had my first and second babies, we lived in these suites for a time. I love thinking back to those times rocking my sweet little ones with the moon shining in the window.

We will share the details of the other Retreat House enhancements in upcoming posts. We hope you love them as much as we do.
