A Neighborhood Wedding Celebration

Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue

We are blessed… for so many reasons. One of the things that we cherish most about our work here at French’s Point is that our celebrations are all about family & milestone moments. Every wedding & gathering we host here is a gift; one we give and one we receive back twice again. We know that not everyone is so privileged with work that is so happy. Every once in a while, we get to host a wedding that has a personal connection to us directly.

In June, we celebrated Marion & Alex, alongside their family and friends. Marion was part of the tribe of children who grew up here with me on Hersey Retreat Road. Her cottage was two doors down from my own. The path between our homes was well-beaten as our raggle-taggle crew roamed freely between homes all summer. Marion is the youngest of the four siblings in her family. Her sister and I played and competed in the Miss Sandy Point Competition, one younger brother was close to my younger brother and her other older brother and I were friends and sweethearts for a summer. Her parents were always kind enough to fold me into their activities at nearby Fort Knox, antique shopping, my first trip to Moody’s Diner & adventures aboard their sail boat. Her father is a doctor who mended a broken foot in junior high after a soccer injury. He is a history buff and brought that history to life with the best stories (somewhat rooted in truth and enhanced with fantasy). Her father and mine were childhood friends that grew up in the same cottages, just doors away. Her grandparents were members of the church that owned French’s Point before we bought it. I considered Marion’s grandparents the matriarch and patriarch of our little summer community.  They are very special family to me, and life-long summer neighbors. Marion might have been the smallest of the sea of cousins in the Bradford Cottage, but she was mighty and adored by all. My sweet father dubbed her “Maid Marion” and to this day, the name has endured for him.

After Alex proposed at the gazebo at French’s Point, they came to me. It seemed for them that celebrating here was the only option, given their connection to the place. They engaged an incredible team of vendors who brought their plans to life for the weekend. Marion in adulthood is articulate, kind, patient, diplomatic, intelligent, and loving woman. It was such a gift to reconnect with her at this stage in our lives. Alex adores Marion and I am so happy to see the mutual respect and admiration between them. We got to be a part of the sweet, joyful, glorious weekend, and for that, my heart is full.  Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - Destination Wedding Venue - Bridal Shoes - French's Point Brendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine Wedding Venue - Frenchs Point - Gazebo Ceremony Brendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine Wedding Venue - Frenchs Point - Gazebo CeremonyBrendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding VenueBrendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding VenueBrendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding VenueBrendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding VenueBrendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point Wedding Venue - Maine Wedding - Family HomeBrendan Bullock Photography - French's Point Wedding Venue - Maine Wedding - Family HomeBrendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - French's Point - Family Vacation Home Rental - Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine French's Point Wedding - Neighborhood Family Gathering Brendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine French's Point Wedding - Neighborhood Family Gathering Brendan Bullock Photography - Trillium Catering - French's Point Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - Trillium Catering - French's Point Maine Wedding Venue Brendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine French's Point Wedding - Neighborhood Family GatheringBrendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine Wedding Venue - French's PointBrendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine Wedding Venue - French's PointBrendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine Wedding Venue - French's PointBrendan Bullock Photography - French's Point Wedding Venue - Maine Wedding - Family HomeBrendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine Wedding Venue - French's Point - Tent Reception in MaineBrendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine Wedding Venue - French's Point - Tent Reception in Maine Brendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine Wedding Venue - French's Point Brendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine Wedding Venue - French's Point Brendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine Wedding Venue - French's Point Brendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine Wedding Venue - French's Point Brendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine Wedding Venue - French's Point - Tent Reception in Maine Brendan Bullock Photography - Coastal Maine Wedding Venue - French's Point

Real Review: The Venue Is Out Of A Dream

French's Point - Coastal Maine Destination Wedding Venue - Review - patrick_mcnamara_photo

Julianna & Cody

October 6th, 2018

There will never be enough words to describe how happy and satisfied we were with French’s Point (and Jessika & Nicole)! We found French’s Point in a magazine and just knew we had to set up a tour. From the second we walked into the venue we fell in love with it and couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. Jessika and Nicole were incredible to work with, they always made time to answer our questions, give us suggestions, and help turn our dream wedding into a reality. Nicole was our wedding coordinator and we cherished and valued the relationship – Nicole was attentive, polite, professional, accommodating, timely, and understanding.

We had both our rehearsal dinner and wedding at French’s Point. The venue is out of a dream – an exquisite estate right on the water. Our guests stayed at Beach Rose Farm House for the weekend, which was equally as beautiful. Our extended family members stayed at other houses located on or near the property, which was very convenient as everything was in walking distance once our guests arrived.

Our wedding day is one we want to relive over and over again, in large part because of the location. We are so happy we chose French’s Point – beautiful, timeless and classy. It is unlike any other wedding venue. Every guest was blown away by the sheer and unique beauty and we continue to receive compliments daily!

French's Point Review - Destination Wedding Venue - Coastal Maine Wedding Venue - Amanda McCoy Photography

Jessica & Zachary

Married on October 13th, 2018

Our October wedding at French’s Point was simply amazing. Back in the planning stages, we had plans to tour six or seven other venues, but we canceled all our other tours after we toured French’s Point because we knew we’d just seen something special and that it wouldn’t get any better.

We were right. Everything about the estate is amazing–the location, the view, the estate house itself. It’s warm, welcoming, and elegant. The staff is sweet, encouraging, communicative, and helpful. They provided us with suggestions and inspiration that made our day unique and fun.

“Everything about the estate is amazing–the location, the view, the estate house itself. It’s warm, welcoming, and elegant.” – Jessica

If you book the venue, you should also consider booking the adjacent farmhouse for your family and wedding party. It’s a quaint, cozy, and adorable place to stay, but it’s also incredibly handy to have the wedding party within walking distance of the venue. We were so happy we made the choice to book the farmhouse too!

I can’t thank Jessika and Nicole enough; they were amazing, and I get misty just thinking about what a wonderful day they helped us create. I loved everything about it! We even battled a little rain and couldn’t get married outside at the gazebo like we planned, but it didn’t for one second feel like a compromise to get married in the lovely estate. This place is just heaven!

Real Review: Stunning Venue, Friendly Team!

French's Point Real Review - Spring Wedding in Maine - Destination Wedding Venue - Photography by the Light & Color

Melanie & Cornelius

Married on May 26th, 2018

I didn’t know a lot about what I wanted for my wedding but I knew I wanted to be married on the water, but not on sand, because heels and sand don’t mix. Well after searching around, my husband found the perfect wedding venue to fit that criteria, French’s Point in Stockton Springs, Maine. My mom went to go and tour it since we live out on the west coast, and immediately they said that this was the perfect place for us. With gorgeous panoramic views of the bay, and the secluded private event feel, it gave us a breathtaking wedding that we both always desired. From their many fire-pits, to amazing tent, to cozy farmhouse rentals, the property gave us everything and more.

There were a few challenges during the planning period as the venue was going through some major changes at the time and has since altered the way they book the events but the team was very responsive and helpful through many scheduling phone calls. They were patient and understanding of our cross country communication, as we live in CA. Come wedding weekend, we were able to sit back and truly relax as family and friends the way we desired and the team was attentive to all our needs. And when the actual day came, Nicole was there to make sure everything ran smoothly, and hopefully enjoyed the fun times we had during our photo shoot. I would definitely recommend French’s Point as the best authentic Maine wedding destination!

Fall Weekend Wedding Itinerary

Real French's Point oceanfront Maine wedding | Chris Bennett Photography

Here in Maine, Fall wedding celebrations have become increasingly common, and now rival the summer season for the most sought-after wedding dates. We’re seeing the same trends here at French’s Point. Our seaside location makes us the perfect spot to take in the crisp salt air and brilliant fall foliage that autumn in Maine offers.

According to The Knot, the traditionally popular month of June still attracts a sizeable 13% of annual US wedding celebrations with its lush, vibrant florals and beautiful weather and comfortable temperatures.  But the Month of October now comes in third, hosting 12% of all weddings annually with it bright foliage and lovely weather.  November is also rising in popularity here at French’s Point for the same reason.

It’s easy to see why so many couples choose a fall event. Steaming mugs of hot apple cider, cozy conversations by the bonfire, impromptu games of flag football, and hay wagon rides evoke their favorite and memorable fall experiences. A long, fall weekend makes for a relaxed, unhurried celebration. It’s no wonder couples are choosing to get married in Maine at this time of year.

Real Review: Recommend Without Reservation

Abbey & Jacob_an MacLellan and Emma Scudder Photography - Real Review of French's Point_Coastal Maine Wedding Venue

My husband and I got married here in July, and could not be more thankful we chose French’s Point. From the very beginning to end, the owners and staff were exceptionally professional, organized, and available for suggestions, questions, and concerns. Most importantly, they are genuinely kind-hearted people who don’t just run a business — they clearly find joy in serving their clients.

The venue itself is exactly as pictured — views are breathtaking, property is beautifully maintained (by the entire family  and is overall just… so peaceful.

We rented the both the Farm House & Retreat for the weekend and all our guests couldn’t stop raving about the accommodations, quality of service, and venue as a whole. We recommend without reservation!

What To Wear To A Wedding

Wedding Guest Attire: What to Wear to a Wedding - Wedding Dress Attire Formality _ Greta Tucker Photography

Informing your guests of the level of formality of your wedding day may feel like a daunting task. Our friends at The Black Tux have created a way to make this process a little bit simpler. Once you have chosen your wedding gown, your venue, the vision of the decor, your rentals, and your menu and meal service style,  it is important to educate your guests on what to wear to this celebratory event.  Your guests will thank you for making this clear.

One way to educate them is through Pinterest. We created an example board called, “Be Our Guest” that helps you envision what we have seen at French’s Point. You can use our board, or create your own to help you guests follow your overall dress formality for your big day. The most popular dress codes we have seen at French’s Point are a mix between Beach Formal and Black Tie Optional where guests are wearing a mixture of florals and heels and summer suits and ties.

Informing Your Guests on Your Wedding Website

Without your guests seeing the decor and all the fine details coming together, the design of the invitation might not be enough to inform them of what to wear. Another way we suggest educating your friends and family about what you wear is on your wedding website or app. You may not have room on your invitation to say more than a couple words about the dress code, but on your website, you can share the definition from The Black Tux or share links to places such as a Pinterest board or blog post.

Don’t Forget to Dress in Layers!

And don’t forget! We always suggest informing your guests that they prepare to dress in layers to accommodate rising and falling temperatures over the course of the day. No matter if you are having a winter, fall, summer or spring celebration, we always want you and your guests to be comfortable for whatever weather that blows our way!

Including Pets In Your Maine Wedding

Emily Delamater Photography - Pets in your Maine Wedding at French's Point on the Coast of Maine

You invite all of your nearest and dearest to celebrate your wedding festivities, have you considered including your four-legged pet friends as well?

We are pet-friendly at French’s Point and would love for you to bring them along to be a part of your Maine wedding! Dogs are always a welcomed addition to the big day, and many times they play an important role in the wedding party: carrying a sign or acting as an usher or ring bearer.

Things to Think About When Including Your Pets

  1. First of all, make sure your venue allows pets – French’s Point allows well-behaved pets that are current on their immunizations, are crated when left alone in our lodgings, and have a handler.
  2. Then consider how you want your pet to participate in your ceremony. Do you want him to have a central role? As in walking down the aisle as a flower-bearer? Or do you want her in the audience with other family?
  3. Once you’ve figured out what role you want your pet to play, you need to find someone to be in charge of him. This person will walk him where he needs to go, hold onto his leash during the ceremony, and, most importantly, take him elsewhere to discretely do his business if nature calls. Keep in mind that a guest who acts as your pet-wrangler won’t be able to really relax and enjoy your wedding, so consider hiring a pet sitter.

When deciding whether to include a pet, you and your partner should be honest about the risks. Dogs bark, cats can cower or hiss, pigs snort, and as I’ve already mentioned, any pet could make a mess at the worst, possible time.

Still, with a little planning and some practice, a well-behaved pet can make a memorable and adorable addition to the ceremony. And for plenty of pet-lovers, it’s not a question of whether or not to include your best friend in your wedding, it’s simply a matter of how best to make it happen!

A Sweet Summer Wedding in June

French's Point June Summer Wedding

Carolyn & TJ

Saturday, June 10, 2017

As we begin to shift our focus to the year ahead and another wedding season of hosting beautiful milestone celebrations for our guests here at French’s Point, we can’t help but reminisce on some of the beautiful weekends and guests we hosted here on the shores of Penobscot Bay this past season.

The early-summer wedding of Carolyn and TJ remains a highlight of the summer for our tiny team. This elegant wedding included a guests list of kind, loving and thoughtful family and friends that traveled from near and far to celebrate with the happy couple.  The weather that day could not have been more blessed.

In short, it was the ideal summer day for a wedding; perfectly suited to this wonderful duo. Carolyn and TJ, with help from their wedding planner, Kristin, at Beehive Creative worked to ensure the details of the event came together seamlessly and with the help of Trillium Catering, guests were well fed, always had a drink in hand, and a smile on their face. I recall being struck by the laughter and revelry which floated on the breeze along with the sweet smell of beach rose.

We are excited to see what the future brings this wonderful couple and were beyond honored to host and serve them here at French’s Point where they got their start in life as a married couple.
