Maine summer runs from mid-June through September, and welcomes all with sunny days and endless outdoor recreation. It's the perfect season to arrange outdoor activities from sunset sails on an iconic windjammer yacht to a day hike through one of the many local trail systems. Take advantage of extended hours of daylight to take in the panoramic views and the Estate's ample grounds with a ceremony on the oceanfront lawn and a reception under the crisp white sailcloth tent.
Come October and November, the Maine landscape takes a new hue with burnt orange autumn leaves reflected along the shore of the bay, darker ocean waves and the hint of woodsmoke in the air. Embrace the autumn season with hayrides, bonfires and warm apple cider for your guests, along with impromptu games of flag football on the lawn. Hold your fall ceremony in the late afternoon under the gazebo, then move to the Estate's flagstone terrace for cocktails before moving indoors for dinner and dancing.
April brings sunny skies and drier ground as the traces of winter snow vanish. Locals embrace the outdoors before the summer vacationers arrive, celebrating with a slew of festivals across the state, making it a great time for guests to explore the surrounding towns, taking in history, art and cuisine. Enjoy cocktails and lawn games like croquet and bocce ball under a bright blue sky before moving into the Estate after sundown for dinner and dancing.
The winter season is Maine's best-kept secret, and an incredibly romantic time to wed (so much so that French Point's owner chose February for her own nuptials). Guests can cozy up and sleigh rides and snowman-making contests, and enjoy cross-country ski and snow shoes outings in neighboring Sandy Point State Park. An outdoors wedding ceremony can be warm and intimate with the help of patio heaters, coffee stations and gifts of lap blankets and hand warmers distributed to guests, before dinner service in the conservatory, with walls of windows to frame frosty views to be enjoyed in comfort from in front of roaring fire place.
