If you are looking for creative ways to personalize your wedding, one suggestion is featuring one or two “signature cocktails” at the bar. If you and your sweetie have a special cocktail that you always drink, it’s a fun way to share it with your guests. If you’re hosting a destination wedding, work with your bar service provider to create a signature drink or add a twist to a classic by using locally distilled spirits or garnishes from the region.
At French’s Point, we’ve seen a selection of great, locally-sourced mixed drinks that capture the flavor of coastal Maine using market-fresh ingredients. With spirits like Allen’s Coffee Brandy, Cold River Vodka or Split Rock Bourbon, your bartenders can create the best drinks to compliment your coastal Maine wedding. Here are the recipes for a couple of fun signature cocktails you might want to serve at your wedding.
Muddle mint leaves in the bottom of a glass with a squirt of simple syrup, 1 T sugar, 6-8 blueberries, and crushed ice. Add Bacardi Limón and shake. Serve over ice with skewered blueberries as a garnish.
Roll a splash of sweet vermouth to coat the glass. Pour vodka into a cocktail shaker half filled with crushed ice. Shake well then strain into a glass. Pour Chambord into the glass (it will settle at the bottom to create a layered effect) and add skewered blueberries for a garnish.
Combine vodka and lemonade in an ice-filled Collins glass and top with club soda. Garnish with a spoonful of fresh Maine blueberries. Thanks to Jules at Downeast Bartending for this recipe.
