Maine offers beautiful scenery to host the perfect wedding celebration, but how do you create the full “Maine” experience for your guests? Consider asking your venue to feature beers, wines and spirits made in Maine and inspired by Maine flavors.

Maine Breweries

Maine is home to a number of breweries from Southern to Northern Maine. Shipyard Brewery, based out of Portland, is the 15th largest microbrewery in the United States and features popular selections like Export Ale and seasonal microbrews like Summer and Winter Ale. Some of our other favorite microbrews at French’s Point include Belfast Bay Lobster Ale and Seadog Blueberry. With a wide variety of breweries, you are sure to find something to appeal to all of your guests providing them with a true “Maine” experience. To round out your weekend, consider a stop along the Maine Beer Trail. For a downloadable map, visit www.mainebrewersguild.org.

Maine Wineries

To appeal to the guests who prefer wine, consider featuring a selection of Maine wines. They are made locally with Maine produce such as locally grown apples and wild Maine blueberries, some along with imported grapes from other parts of the country. If carefully selected, these wines appeal to even the most critical wine connoisseurs on your guest list.  Maine also offers meads for those who wish to explore a more novel wine-like offering such as Honey Maker Mead. Another way to enjoy the wines Maine has to offer is to consider hosting your rehearsal dinner or farewell brunch at a nearby winery, such as the Cellardoor Winery. A complete list of Maine wineries is available at www.mainewines.com. Like its beer counterpart, there is also an established Maine Wine Trail from the Maine Winery Guild which offers a vast number of wineries to explore right here in the midcoast!

Maine Spirits

If spirits like vodka and gin are popular amongst your guests, consider featuring the Cold River line up. Located in Freeport, Maine, Cold River Distilleries uses potatoes grown on their farm to produce one of the top Vodka and Gin selections in the world. Create a signature “Maine” cocktail for your guests using Cold River Blueberry Vodka. A popular beverage among French’s Point clients is our Maine Lemonade”, which features Cold River Blueberry Vodka, fresh squeezed lemons and wild Maine blueberries.

From beer to spirits and everything in between, local Maine businesses can help complete your Maine destination wedding and leave your guests talking about your celebration for months!
