David Murray Weddings holds a special place in my heart. I met David over 12 years ago now through some industry friends, Michelle Turner and Stacey Kane. He came to French’s Point the first time when he shot the wedding of my childhood friend Lauren’s beautiful June wedding day. I was beyond excited to have David here for that event. The photos from that day remain some of my favorite ever captured here at French’s Point. I again had the opportunity to spend some time with David when he partnered with Michelle, Stacey, Audra Welton to cover a wedding we hosted for Aron and Gita Gaudet in 2010.

David always seems to have a twinkle in his eye, a quiet smile on his handsome face, and he carries an indelible, subtle, quick wit. He puts his subject at ease with his light heart, disarming sense of humor and calming energy. The best way I can describe David’s relational effect on his couples is that of the big brother they never knew they had.

David prizes family above most everything and I think this makes him an ideal individual to capture such meaningful, defining moments. David has a strong connection to Maine and an appreciation for its landscape and light. New England was David’s childhood home, so he knows it well. He lived here in Maine for some time and travels back often. David now lives in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Linda, but he travels the world capturing wedding celebrations through his lens. His work is described as Fashionable Wedding Photography, served in a beautifully authentic way.

David is a Pulitzer Prize Finalist and one of the top 5 wedding photojournalists in the world according to International Wedding Photography Association. His wife Linda is a Correspondent for ABC News and CNN and has won a Peabody Award and an Emmy for her work in this field. With David behind the lens and Linda behind the scenes, they have found that the secret to their brilliant capture of emotion for these momentous life events is found at the intersection of life experiences and beauty within the wedding stories they capture and create.

Allow me to introduce my friend, David Murray.

How long have you been operating your business?

I have been a wedding photographer full time since 2003.

How would you describe your style?

I would describe myself as a storyteller who goes straight to the heart of the family legacy. I want to reach out in a way that not only is pleasing to my clients but for those who will come after them.

What lead you to be a wedding photographer?

After working in photojournalism for over 20 years, I was looking for a new way to express myself in image form. A neighbor asked if I shot weddings and it felt so natural to find the love and emotion that are part of each wedding day.

What is your favorite moment to photograph on wedding day?

I love finding moments that will universally speak to all about love and connection.

Do you suggest having a second shooter at a French’s Point wedding?

Having a second photographer allows for both members of the couple to be photographed from prep time to that time when we say goodbye to the couple at the end of the evening.

How many hours of coverage do you suggest for a French’s Point wedding?

For a normal day’s coverage, I think 8 to 9 hours would be good.

What is your favorite day trip in Maine?

My favorite trip is to a small island near Harpswell which is owned by my sister’s husband and brothers. I am most at peace there.
